About the Position

The Verification and Authorization is integral in the smooth operation of the practice to ensure continuity of care. They verify patient insurance benefits, perform financial assessments, answer incoming calls and provide superior patient relations. Responsible for the authorization of Radiology services with patients’ insurance company to ensure necessary procedures are covered by the provider prior to patient appointments.

Shift Schedule:

• Mon - Fri: 8am - 5pm
• Mon - Fri 9am - 6pm

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Verify patient insurance and benefits.
• Document authorization and reference numbers according to process. · Establishes medical necessity, LCD check as appropriate.
• Assist with researching any denials related to authorization process. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
• A qualified candidate is a professional, dependable, flexible and self-motivated person.
• Able to prioritize work and meet time specific deadlines independently. .
• Must have knowledge of HMO, PPO, Medicare and Medicaid, as well as alternative payment models.
• Works with a variety of payer portals for benefits verification and authorization submissions.
• Understands coordination of hi-tech and low-tech benefits.
• Must be able to multi-task, possess good computer skills, good attitude, personable, and be flexible.
• Understands importance of documentation and communication within and outside of department for coordination of care.
• Coordinates Peer to Peer as needing with the referring physician.
• Submits appeals as required. · Participates in workflow and or process improvement. · Participates in department projects and implementation of quality measures.
• Coordinate PTO coverage under the direction on Non-Clinical Coordinator
• Facilitate team meetings as needed
• Emphasizes customer service, and actively looks for ways to promote that in the department.
• The ideal candidate will have 5 years of Radiology based authorization experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

• Proficient in English written and verbal skills
• Additional language skills a benefit, but not required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Normal office environment. Requires sitting and standing associated with a normal office environment. Manual dexterity needed for using a calculator and computer keyboard.
