S:US is looking for an experienced Addiction Counselor to join one of our Men's Homeless Shelters in Brooklyn

About the Position

The Substance Use Specialist at S:US works as part of a multi-disciplinary team to provide substance use services and consultation to the community. You will be responsible for integrating dual-recovery treatment in conjunction with the treatments of other team members. For residents of the shelter, you will conduct assessments for substance abuse services and create treatment plans. You will need to carefully document and chart details regarding the participant and their plan in order to quickly adapt to changing needs and aid the rest of your team.

S:US' Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) teams are a mobile interdisciplinary team of professionals, experienced in psychiatry, nursing, social work, and rehabilitation, as well as peers. ACT delivers comprehensive mental health treatment to individuals with mental illness that seriously impairs their functioning in the community. Our ACT Teams serve those whose needs have not been met by traditional clinic-based approaches. We are an innovative, recovery-oriented, best-practice intervention that delivers treatment to people in their homes, shelters, parks, and anywhere else they happen to be living in order to engage them in a sustained relationship that leads to recovery.

Salary: $52,000 / year

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in human services or similar
  • Able to provide proof of vaccination against COVID-19 virus
  • Certified Substance Abuse and Alcoholism Counselor (CASAC)
  • 2 years experience with dual-diagnosis
  • Experience delivering integrated services
  • Bilingual, preferred
